Not Just For Pitbulls Anymore.
Breed bans and other breed-specific laws aren't just for Pitbulls or Rottweilers. BSL has targeted many different breeds, not just here in North America, but all over the world.
Breed bans and their supporters MUST be stopped. Otherwise, no dog - and no dog owner - is safe from the ignorance, and more innocent dogs will die.
Is YOUR dog on the list? How about your friend's dog, your neighbor's dog, your mother's dog? Will they come for your dog, like they do in Denver or in Merseyside in the U.K? Will your dog be next?

Blossom, actually should nothing to do with the season. A lot of time in his life is confused, find a better reason to let himself not to want to some other people think unimportant matters.
We all like a clown, in our lifetime playing five balls, the five balls is work, health, family, friends, and spirit. Five balls with only one is rubber, fall can play up and that is work. The other four balls are use made of glass, the off, broken...

I would love to know where my husky is banned because I will make a point of never allowing him to go there.

German Shepherds? Huskies? Golden Retrievers? This list is BS. I've had a bunch of Golden Retrievers, and I can proudly say they wouldn't even hurt a fly. I've also had a few other dogs on this list, all of which were quite well-behaved. I do understand that SOME dogs on this list (very few!) have a tendency to be more agressive, but when I got to golden retriever, I almost lost it. I can honestly say that I've never seen any of my Goldens hurt ANYTHING. They're probably some of the most gentle creatures you can have as pets. (And there are also plenty of other dogs on the list who shouldn't be, I just wanted to put emphasis on this breed in particular.) As a dog lover, the fact that this list is made up mostly of ridiculous content truly offends me.

Dog is man's best friend! Because it is no longer afraid of loneliness! Because people's lives more secure! I love dogs! You?

What is wrong with these people?! The ignorance is astounding! Why not ban the careless owners who let their dogs run loose, the abusive owners who help make their dogs agressive, the horribly cruel puppy mill breeders who don't care about their animals' well being let alone the temperament of the dogs they breed? Why not ban, for that matter, people with arrogant and ignorant attitudes towards these animals? Has any one of you that supports these bans bothered to check into the honorable and dangerous services these breeds have provided? The airedale, german shepherd, among others for example served the troops in wars! The german shepherds, rottweiler and belgian malinois among others serve and protect our law enforcement officers! The saint bernard rescued people from being frozn to death in snowy mountains! Please, lets get together and look at it with our brains instead of.....
Blame the people, not the animals.

The list is ludicrous. I agree that we should punish the owner not the dog. If a dog is loved and trained properly it doesn't matter what the stereotype the breed falls into it will not be harmful or dangerous. I would love to know where my husky is banned because I will make a point of never allowing him to go there. They will have to kill me first before I let anyone take my baby from me. The person who created this list should be banned from humanity.

It is not the breed but the owner that makes the dog bad. Who in their right mind would want to get read of most of the dogs in the country because of the breed. If you teach the dog to fight and to kill it is your fault the dog is bad, not the dogs fault. I have 9 black lab/weiner dogs, 1 alasken husky/healer, 1 shar-pie and a pekenese none which are not KILLERS JUST lapdogs

There seems to be a huge amount of irresponsible and misleading information surrounding this issue circulating on the net - and we all know what happens when you cry wolf.

I guaranty that when BSL comes to my town I will fight it with everyting I got. There's no way I'd let them take my Husky.
Posted by: Alee | August 19, 2008 at 06:33 AM
anyone who wants to take my dog will literally have to put a bullet through my skull first, my pup is shar pei/husky/heeler mixed all 3 breeds on this list i'll fight BSL to my death
Posted by: Reina | August 16, 2008 at 04:02 AM
This is not true. they havn't banned all these breeds. impossible
Posted by: Kandice | July 31, 2008 at 10:26 PM
In response to Jackie. Breeds are not targeted because they are inherently aggressive but because public panic deems them to be so. Any dog can act aggressively when not properly socialized or trained. Just as not all pit bulls are aggressive, not all golden retrievers are aggressive, and not all newfoundlands are aggressive. However, I have met my fair share of aggressive golden retrievers, an aggressive newfoundland (very scary due to its size) and numerous other dogs that have not had early socialization, training or are simply owned by irresponsible dog owners who allow them to be off leash. If cities & counties punished all irresponsible dog owners irrespective of the breed then we would be far safer. Strangely enough, with all the media hype in the three years as a dog (pit bull) owner I have never once met a bad pit bull. Punish bad owners, not an entire breed.

Why don't you have a list where the breeds are banned right now along with a list of what areas are considering breed bans? This would be very helpful.
Posted by: Jackie | June 30, 2008 at 10:13 AM
Where are golden retrievers banned? Or newfoundlands. And why? I have never heard of those breeds being banned anywhere or being considered aggressive.

When will the goverment realize it is not the dog breeds that are at a fault here. "There are no bad dogs just very bad dog owners!"
Posted by: Micki | August 19, 2007 at 07:31 AM
Are there lists of what each state will not allow out there someplace?? This is ridiculous! If you are a responible owner why than punish??? I love my dog to pieces and they will have to fight me to get him! I'll move first!
